FROM AUSTRIA TO THAILAND

After a two-month break from posting on this blog, I am back with a (long overdue) update! Sorry for the delay in bringing you up to speed...

Over the holidays, Shane and I spent time several weeks at home, in Manitoba and Quebec, Canada, soaking in time with friends and family. A very welcome conclusion to a busy 2016!

On January 2, Shane left for Maria Rain, Austria, where he is spending 3 months taking care of 7 beautiful dogs. We had committed to doing this housesit several months before our plans for the coming year changed. Shane is therefore keeping our commitment and doing the housesit on our behalf and I will join him there for the month of March. Most of his days are spent walking the puppies in the mountains surrounding the property and chatting up the local residents. I will let you update him in more detail since I haven't been there yet. :)

As for me, I arrived in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on January 8. We will be spending the next year or so in this beautiful city. I am so excited to be back in the Land of Smiles! The sun is warm, the food is delicious and the people are nice. That's the beauty of Thailand!

Shane and I will be working with the Business as Mission Resource Team for the next year. We will help them organize a conference in Dallas in September, in addition to collaborating on a variety of other projects throughout the year. For the foreseeable future, I will be dividing my schedule between my regular translation and copywriting work and the time I invest with the BAM Resource Team. Being involved in something that is bigger than me, something that changes lives, is already paying dividends: I'm enjoying a renewed sense of purpose that feels like a breath of fresh air to the brain (and heart!) after several years spent doing the "zombie walk" (...as Shane calls it).

I miss my husband all day every day. We have never spent so much time apart and it's taking its toll. But it's also a chance for us to miss each other and appreciate how intertwined our lives have become over the past 10 years. We have been given time to find ourselves again (apart from one another), to focus on our respective priorities and experience personal growth so we can be a better wife/husband to our spouse. We are blessed.

I will leave it here for now. Time for bed. But I will share more soon.

Much love to you all,

Annik
